They are currently on display in Beverly Hills, California.

The slippers include 4,600 rubies totaling 1,350 carats (as well as 50 carats of diamonds) which took craftsman Javiar Barerra two months

to set. Made in 1989, the world’s most expensive shoes were still on sale in 2000.

Most Expensive Flip-Flops

Flip-flops, or thong sandals, were inspired by traditional Japanese sandals. They were introduced to the Western world via New Zealand in the late 1950s. While most flip-flops are of the cheap, plastic variety, dressier thong sandals are available. The most expensive flip-flops in the world, however, fit neither of those descriptions.

An exclusive product of trendy clothier Electric Couture, the costly sandals are decorated in a rock n roll theme with guitars, winged hearts and the slogans “WILD THING” and “WALK THIS WAY & ROCK.” These flashy flip-flops, created by Crystalishious, are naturally covered in crystals. Of course, it’s the $1,800 price tag that makes them worthy of our attention.

Of course, those aren’t the only expensive flip-flops out there. H. Stern, a jeweler, unveiled a pair of flip-flops in 2004 that sold for $17,000. In fact, if they were sold today, they would most likely sell for even more than the Crystalishious flip-flops. These luxury sandals were made with over 1,500 gold feathers accented with diamonds. Unfortunately, only one pair was ever made. The rest of the line sold for a more pedestrian $2,000 to $3,000.

If you prefer a sportier sandal, though, PechePlatinum’s crocodile flip flops may suit you better. Using patent-pending technology and hand-matched crocodile straps, these shoes guarantee maximal comfort. Furthermore, if your conscience won’t allow you to wear a crocodile skin on your foot, PechePlatinum assures us that selling shoes made of crocodiles and donating 5% of the profits to primate-friendly eco-groups somehow helps both the crocs and the monkeys. At $400, these are the most expensive production flip-flops available.

Sexy Sandals

Sexy sandals are a big portion of why summers are so "smokin' hot." They're the symbols of frivolity and the sultry sex appeal you only find in the hottest clubs in Miami on a sweltering evening, where music's pumping as hard as your heart, and the moonlight's making everyone glow. Sexy sandals give you the opportunity to show off your hot pink, coral, or French pedicure. They let you flaunt your glistening gams in a mini skirt because they complement them so well.

K. Jacques Sandals So Damn Expensive

It’s the height of summer now and wearing as little as possible feels right. This goes for shoes, too. Who wants to clomp around in heavy footwear in this godawful heat?

Enter K. Jacques, purveyors of strappy leather sandals. The label was started in the 1930s in St. Tropez, France by an Armenian refugee. They were made-to-measure for each customer and the shop often made sandals for wealthy, famous people on holiday in St. Tropez. Many of the styles haven’t changed since then, though they do offer trendier options every year.

They cost between $200 and $400. This is a bit of sticker shock for what at first glance appears to be a nondescript flat sandal made from a strip or two of leather. I dug a bit to try to figure out how they can–and do–command that price.

1) Impeccable French heritage with a compelling story: Refugee makes good, attracts rich tourists.

2) The company has been family-owned since its inception and the shoes are handmade in a small factory in St. Tropez by “skilled artisans.” Handmade is obviously more time consuming and therefore, more expensive. I like to think of a bunch of women with lace caps lovingly sewing leather while humming Edith Piaf tunes.

3) The leather is sourced from France and Italy. Italian leather is often considered the best quality in the world, so there you go. Ka-ching.

4) Because of reasons 1, 2, and 3, K. Jacques has collaborated with some of the most prestigious designers and brands in the world. The company has worked with Isabel Marant, Karl Lagerfeld, Balenciaga, Givenchy, and Missoni, among many others. This has helped to establish a decent reputation as a luxury brand.

5) The styles are simple, just trendy enough, and look expensive without being overly flashy. Logos are still considered crass in this uncertain economic climate. And the shoes are cute! The styles they just did in collaboration with Opening Ceremony are really quirky (picture at left).

The bottom line: K. Jacques has a clean reputation, makes a quality product, and has that magical quality all brands lust after–caché. And if you cruise the Net-a-Porter sandal page, they look downright reasonably priced next to the $935 embellished Lanvins.

High-Temp Fashion: How to Look Chic in the Heat

Here's how to look good this summer without breaking a sweat: Choose light, layered clothes and pick up six key pieces for every summer wardrobe.

In a scene straight out of Havana's heyday, the party was a swirling sea of sun-kissed guests clad in a cloud of sorbet shades, tropical bursts, and endless ikats. A jet-set crowd hailing from everywhere from São Paulo to Sudan descended on the balmy isle of the Dominican Republic to celebrate the nuptials of Harper's Bazaar's accessories director, Ana Maria Pimentel. The festivities proved to be the perfect mix of fun, fantasy, and, well, fashion...haute-island-style, that is.

With temperatures inching toward 100 degrees, the trick to looking good for this cool crowd came in the form of citrus tribal-inspired frocks by Dries Van Noten, breathable bubble dresses from Calvin Klein, and a bevy of other bold creations. Of course, the beaming bride scored the best-dressed award in an opulent silk organza Oscar de la Renta gown.

The bunch broke out their finery for the reception. "I wore an emerald-green silk Electric Feathers jumpsuit with a thin belt and two gold bangles from my own collection," explains guest Phoebe Stephens, codesigner of the jewelry line Anndra Neen. Her approach was to wear light fabrics complemented with striking pieces of jewelry and major stiletto sandals. In her Crayola-colored number, "I was able to dance the night away" — without looking like a sweaty mess.

Stephens's quandary is one that fashion lovers have faced for years: What's the best way to look fresh and modern in warm weather when all you really want to do is wear as little as possible? For the summer ahead, be it at the beach, the city, or another far-flung locale, there are many options for keeping cool and looking chic with a new set of silhouettes and a whole new way to wear them.

Summer dressing summed up: Layering and lightness are a must — day or night. The styling trick to looking au courant — everywhere from the beach to the office — is layering. While we have come to rely on the ubiquitous cardigan over the past several seasons (a look that isn't going anywhere, so hold on to those filmy knits), the way forward is outerwear. There are two notable key pieces in this category. Summer leather hit a high mark with the abbreviated motorcycle jacket, ideal for chilly evenings. Another reinterpreted classic is the utility jacket, which can be thrown over a long floral dress or a slouchy pant.

KEY PIECES FOR SUMMER
  • SHORTS
  • UTILITY JACKET
  • ABBREVIATED PANTS
  • THE PERFECT TEE
  • SUMMER CLOGS
  • NEUTRAL-COLORED HANDBAG

Louise Roe Shares Summer Fashion Tips

It’s that flesh-baring time of year again…Summer is here! But before you hit the beach or head off on vacation, here are a few tips and trends to help your style sizzle in the sun.

1. Get a spray-tan 2 days before you go on vacation, this gives the product enough time to fade into a natural glow, and it’s so much more flattering and slimming to be bronzed the first time you don that bikini.

2. Steer clear of this season’s big trend for all-in-one swimsuits with cut-outs all over the body, your tan lines won’t thank you!

3. Invest in a pair of cork or wooden wedges. By far a chicer alternative to metallic strappy sandals on holiday this season. The nude or brown heel will also create an optical illusion to make your legs look longer.

4. Save money and make your own cut-off shorts. Chop an old pair of loose-fitting jeans and leave the pockets hanging through underneath, or cut them longer to a Bermuda short, just above the knee.

5. Invest in one attention-grabbing, on-trend piece. My personal favourite this season? A panama hat. Whether you pair this with a long floral maxi dress, a bright kaftan or just jeans and a tank top, this item will pop you’ outfit and give an edge to your look.

6. Don’t be scared of a high-waist. Contrary to popular belief, high-waisted shorts and jeans actually hold in your stomach and give that beautiful hourglass shape. For an extra cinch, add a thick brown leather belt.

7. Think orange. Summer’s hottest shade looks great with dark denim flares, white linen shorts or gold accessories. Or just paint it on your nails instead!

8. More is more: bling it on. Jewellery needs to be stacked and layered up the arm or around the neck – but opt for natural colours and materials like wood, cork, brushed gold and olive green.

9. Buy a one-shoulder jumpsuit a size too big. Such a flattering and easy-to-wear piece for both night and day: just remember the look is loose and boho – not tight and trashy!

10. Stock up on waterproof eyeliner and mascara. Sun, sea and sand does not for flawless faces make! This will prevent any panda-eye situations.

SUMMER FASHION TIPS

Summer Beauty and Fashion Tips

Fashion trends today keep changing every season. And so you are here to read this article. Well probably this article is not to discuss the latest from Armani or Gabbana. The trends keep changing anyway. But there are few trends that haven't changed for quite some time and yet they are the latest. Have you ever considered them?

There are trends that have been set and we still follow them. Every one does that too - even the wildest of the designers. Have your ever seen a designer use only one shoe for his/her model, or probably half a necklace? Or why don't you ask them to give only one sock while you wear two shoes? These trends have been set and it will take ages to get out of this mind set too.

There have been the things that stay and stay. We generally use/sport them, but kind of ignore them.

Tried and Tested Methods - Are they boring?

Before you decide, read the last few sentences again. There are tried and tested methods and we will not do that. Even for the sake of looking different we wouldn't do that.

All in all, what I want to say is simple: Our trends depend not just on the kind of social circle that we have, but even on the environment we live on, the climates, the feel and more importantly how happy we are wearing something.

From the simple polo shirts, T-shirts, sweaters, jackets, jeans to suits and khakis, they are all there in our wardrobes. The trends, the latest fashions may only add a few jazzy colors, few logos and few statements. The trends change, but the base always remain

How to Wear Jeggings

With the return of super skinny jeans and leggings this past couple of years, it’s no wonder the jeggings were invented. Jeggings are basically exremely skinny jeans that look like leggings and are also worn like leggings.

I have to say that in the beginning I was not a fan of the skinny jean or the legging, but as time went on, I came to embrace both, and now, it seems like I can’t even wear any other types of jeans but skinny. The problem with these slim types of bottoms is that they’re hard to dress. And jeggings especially, can be a little tricky.

A Few Thumb Rules

First off, make sure jeggings suit your body type. If you don’t feel comfortable in them, don’t wear them – no one’s going to shun you for it!! Second, pick a dark pair that will go with everything from a basic tank to a sweater dress. Also, black slims you down so that’s always a plus. If you’re on the short side, you may want to get a petite pair as a regular pair of jeggings might run a little too long, and there’s nothing worse than 2 feet of bunched up jeans at the bottom.

So What Exactly Can You Wear Jeggings With?

Jeggings are actually quite versatile, and I feel they do a better job than skinny jeans or leggings would. Because they’re still denim material, you don’t have to cover your butt, but they’re so slim and skin-tight like leggings that you can wear a long sweater or tee, a dress, or just throw a long cardigan over.

I love wearing leggings with a pair of chunky heels, a long sweater and a scarf. Add a big tote to that, and you’re set for the day. So if you’re heading to the mall this week, make sure to pick up a pair of jeggings: it’s all you’ll need!
